Macallum New Energy (MNE) recognised the potential of natural hydrogen and embarked on a mission to explore this untapped resource.

The Beginnings

A few years ago, MNE, holding a hydrocarbon exploration permit was preparing to run a seismic acquisition campaign on their licensed area. It was during this time that AVALIO approached us with a groundbreaking proposal to collaborate in researching and early exploration for natural hydrogen. A comprehensive desktop study revealed the considerable potential for natural hydrogen and, possibly, helium within the subject permit.

Since partnering with AVALIO, we have supported an impressive amount of work, both in the field and behind the desk, seeking to identify locations with hydrogen leads, as well as to quantify its degassing rates. In the process, we have accumulated a substantial level of expertise on the subject of field data acquisition and its interpretation, in conjunction with our research pioneering techniques that will look to commercialise the exploration and extraction of natural hydrogen.
